My approach
I believe in a biopsychosocial approach to counselling. Biological, psychological and social factors all interact, and they influence how we experience and respond to the challenges in our lives.
My approach is primarily person-centred, and I draw from Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT), Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) and Solution-Focused Therapy to help you better understand yourself, develop practical coping strategies, and work toward meaningful change.
Counselling is a partnership
Rather than telling you how you should live, I work with you to identify your own goals, strengths, values and direction. I focus on helping you build greater awareness, take ownership of your decisions, and find practical steps that lead to positive change and a better quality of life.
Experience
With 26 years of experience in the Canadian Armed Forces and more than five years as a Registered Counselling Therapist, I bring a broad range of professional and life experience to my work in mental health. That experience has given me an appreciation for the many challenges people can face at different stages of life, and for the importance of meeting each person where they are.
What you can expect
I strive to provide a supportive, respectful and non-judgmental space where you can feel comfortable talking about your concerns, exploring challenges, and working toward a life that feels more purposeful and meaningful to you.
I work with teens, young adults and students, adults, older adults, couples and families, in person in Coldbrook, online, by phone, or at home.
