Meet Jimmy

Practical. Honest. In your corner.

“Rather than telling you how you should live, I work with you to identify your own goals, strengths, values and direction.”

I’m a Registered Counselling Therapist (RCT) with more than five years of counselling experience and 26 years in the Canadian Armed Forces. My approach is person-centred and practical, drawing from DBT, CBT and Solution-Focused Therapy to help you understand yourself, build coping strategies that work, and move toward meaningful change.

How I work

Practical tools, no jargon

There’s no one-size-fits-all in counselling. I use well-researched approaches and pick what fits you, your goals and the way you like to work.

  • Person-centredYou set the direction. Counselling is a partnership built around your own goals, strengths and values.
  • CBTCognitive Behavioural Therapy: spotting and changing the thinking patterns that keep you stuck.
  • DBTDialectical Behaviour Therapy: skills for strong emotions, stress and relationships.
  • ACTAcceptance and Commitment Therapy: dealing with hard feelings while moving toward what matters to you.
  • Narrative therapySeparating you from the problem, and changing the story you tell yourself.
  • Solution-focusedBuilding on what already works, with clear, practical next steps.
  • MindfulnessSimple grounding skills to settle the body and clear the head.
  • PsychoeducationUnderstanding what’s going on in your mind and body, so it makes sense.
